Data and Analysis
Corn and wheat imports are projected to rise in the marketing year (MY) 2025/26, due to a more stable foreign exchange rate, improved consumer purchasing power, and lower world grain prices compared to the prior MY.
In June 2025, the Food and Beverage West Africa trade show was held in Lagos, Nigeria. Overall, the show was well attended by serious buyers from across West Africa, although most were Nigeria based.
Nigeria remains a compelling export market with a growing population and a still maturing consumer-oriented food and beverage market.

Private exporters reported the following activity: 132,000 MT of soybeans for delivery to China during MY 2022/2023 and 120,000 MT of hard red winter wheat for delivery to Nigeria - 60,000 MT is for delivery during MY 2021/2022 and 60,000 MT is for delivery during MY 2022/2023.
