Regulations for importing food and agricultural products in Guatemala remain unchanged since the 2024 FAIRS report. In July 2025, the Ministry of Health launched SNAP-GT, a digital platform designed to streamline the registration of processed foods and the issuance of import permits.
Guatemala boasts a young population with a median age of 26 years and a growing middle class, driving increased demand for modern retail formats. However, traditional markets and informal retail remain prevalent across the country.

Private exporters reported the sale of 101,400 metric tons of soybean cake and meal for delivery to Guatemala during the 2025/2026 marketing year.
Private exporters reported the following sales activity for MY 2025/2026: 106,680 MT of corn for delivery to Mexico and 105,000 MT of corn for delivery to Guatemala.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture will spearhead a trade mission to Guatemala City, Guatemala, from March 3-7, to strengthen trade ties and expand U.S. agricultural exports across Central America. The mission includes more than two dozen agribusinesses, trade organizations, and representatives from two state departments of agriculture.
