Domestic cotton consumption increased to 1.475 million metric tons (MMT) (6.77 million bales) in MY 2015 due to increase demand at export markets. Total cotton imports during MY 2015 reached 918,307 MT (4.2 million bales) of which 329,384 MT (1.5 million bales) were U.S. cotton.
