On April 14, the Ministry of Agriculture approved the “Regarding export of certain goods from the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan” decree outlining wheat and wheat flour export restrictions valid until June 15, 2022.
On April 27, 2022, the Turkish Government published new Biosafety Decision approvals for the import of genetically engineered (GE) soybean and corn. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MinAF) approved two new soybean events and two new corn events for feed and cancelled the approvals of three corn events and one soybean event.

FAS-Nur-Sultan forecasts no significant change to wheat planted area for MY2022/23. Kazakhstan introduced wheat and wheat flour exports restrictions until June 15, 2022, however the government has made public assurances that it plans to supply regional markets given high wheat prices and production challenges in Ukraine and Russia.

India: Sugar Annual

Indian centrifugal sugar production in market year (MY) 2022/2023 (October-September) is forecast to decline three percent to 35.8 million metric tons (MMT), equivalent to 33.4 MMT of crystal white sugar after a record production of 36.8 MMT (equivalent to 34.4 MMT of crystal white sugar) in MY 2021/2022.
The Ministry of Agriculture proposed a national agricultural sector development project plan for 2021-2025 to increase the sector's competitiveness by improving labor efficiency, increasing agricultural exports, and domestically producing "socially significant food products."

With improved weather conditions, wheat, barley, and rice production are forecast to increase in MY 2022/23. In contrast, corn production is forecast down as farmers switch to other more profitable crops. Overall grain production in MY 2022/23 will be influenced by rising input costs, which the Turkish government is trying to offset with higher support payments for fertilizer and diesel.

On April 13, 2022, the Government of India rescinded its cotton import duty of 10 percent until September 30, 2022. This import duty consists of a five percent basic customs duty and a five percent Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC), which has been reversed to “Nil” until the end of the Indian cotton marketing year (October/September).

On March 29, 2022, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued order number Std/SP-05/Orders/FSSAI [E-1317], pertaining to the Food Safety and Standards (Food for Infant Nutrition) Regulations (2020). The new FSSAI order extends the implementation date of the regulations to October 1, 2022.
