In 2022, India granted import market access to U.S. pork and pork products, marking the resolution of a long-standing barrier to U.S. agricultural trade. In the course of this year, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) published a series of notifications stipulating that effective January 1, 2023, all milk, pork and fish products imported into India require a health certificate issued by a competent authority of the exporting country in the format published in the FSSAI notification.

On December 13, 2022, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) published notification No. Std/EC/T(NSF-01) (Appendix I) in the Gazette of India: Extraordinary.
