Bosnia and Herzegovina: Agricultural Biotechnology Annual

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) allows permitted import of genetically engineered (GE) products based on the 2009 “Law on Genetically Modified Organisms” (“GMOs”) and its pertaining bylaws. To date, the first and only GE product approved for import is GE soybean meal for feed. BiH’s anti-GE border practices, which include random testing, can occasionally influence commercial imports of grains.

Jamaica: Agricultural Biotechnology Annual

U.S. agricultural exports to Jamaica in 2021 totaled nearly $500 million, making the United States a key trading partner for the Caribbean nation. Currently, some U.S. exported livestock feed inputs and intermediate foods to Jamaica are produced using biotechnological methods. Jamaica recently approved a national Biosafety Policy which will guide how biotechnology and biosafety is utilized in the country.
