South Korea’s Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional (HRI) food service sector continues to grow as consumers spend more on dining out and look for more convenience in their busy lives.

Korean potato production is expected to increase to 530,000 metric tons (MT) in Calendar Year (CY) 2018, as potato farmers respond to higher prices caused by low supply in CY 2017.

As actual rice planting area was less than FAS/Seoul had estimated in the last report, the rice production forecast for MY 2018/19 is revised down to 3.73 million metric tons (MMT).
