Poultry, mainly broiler meat, has been gaining greater popularity among Czech consumers due to its favorable prices, when compared to other meats, and its healthier profile.
Czech farmers experienced another good grain crop. The only exception is the corn crop, which is one third lower than last year’s crop.
The Czech dairy sector has been struggling even before the abolition of the EU dairy quota and implementation of the Russian import ban on EU agricultural products.
Poultry consumption and production in the Czech Republic has been rather stagnating, being limited by significant imports from larger producers, mainly from neighboring Poland.
After meat production temporarily picked up in 2014 and the 1st quarter of 2015, its gradually declining trend returned in the 2nd and 3rd quarter of 2015.
