Japan: Retail Foods

In 2017, Japan’s retail food and beverages sector accounted for $474.3 billion in sales of which an estimated $310 billion, or 65 percent, is attributed to regional independent supermarket chains.
Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced its intent to import 3,000 metric tons (MT) of butter and 10,000 MT of non-fat dry milk (NFDM) in response to anticipated shortages.
