South Africa: Product Brief Almonds

In recent years, the demand for nuts in South Africa – especially almonds – has risen with consumers’ desire for nutritious snack choices and in-home baking ingredients. Food manufacturers have increasingly used almonds in baked goods, breakfast cereals, mixed snacks, granola bars, and trail mixes.
On June 17, 2022, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare MoHFW)/Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued direction F. No: STD/SP_08/A1.2022/N-01-Part (1) to operationalize the draft Food Safety and Standards (Labeling and Display) Amendment Regulations (2022).
