Sugar shortages have been widely reported over the last few weeks in most of Egypt’s governorates.

Egypt imposed an EGP 900 ($101.35) per metric ton tax on exported sugar effective May 18 until the end of 2016.

Post forecasts total sugar production in MY2016/17 to increase by 3 percent or 60,000 MT to 2.185 MMT from MY2015/16’s 2.125 MMT.
