Paraguay’s wheat exports inn marketing year (MY) 2025/26 are forecast at 550,000 metric tons (MT), edging up slightly from the previous year, supported by a modest expansion in planted area even as yields may decline marginally.

Paraguayan wheat production in marketing year (MY) 2024/2025 is forecast up at 1.15 million tons as a result of a significant increase in planted area and improved yields. Wheat exports would also be up at 450,000 tons.

Posts projects Paraguay’s wheat production for marketing year (MY) 2023/2024 to increase to 1.25 million metric tons (MMT), with exports rising to 410,000 MT.

Rice production in Senegal, Guinea, Burkina Faso, and Mali is forecast at 8.02 million metric tons (MMT) in MY 2022/23 on average weather, improved irrigation, and enhanced stability in production areas. The 15 percent jump from MY 2021/22 follows a growing season that was plagued by poor weather, militant activity and instability in Mali, and irrigation issues and pest prevalence in Senegal.

Marketing year (MY) 2021/22 area harvested for rice in Senegal, Guinea, Burkina Faso, and Mali is expected to increase about 9 percent to 3.35 million HA as movement restrictions are eased in Guinea, planted area rebounds from flooding, and financing and input access for farmers increases.

Wheat production in marketing year 2020/2021 is forecast up to 1.275 million tons, 21 percent more than the previous marketing season, on projections of an expansion in planted acreage.

Wheat production in marketing year (MY) 2019/20 is forecast to increase to 1.14 million tons. Exports are projected up at 480,000 tons as a result of greater supply.

Wheat production for crop 2016/17 is forecast at 1.0 million tons, lower than the previous year due to expected low farmer returns.

This report concerns only selected countries in West Africa (See table 1). MY2015/16 milled rice production is expected to reach 5.9 million tons, a 17 percent increase from last season production.
