The Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine and representatives of non-governmental organizations signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on grain exports for MY 2015/16.
The MY 2015/16 winter wheat crop is expected to reach 27.6 MMT, the largest crop since independence in 1990. Corn production is forecast to decrease to 22.7 MMT, over 20 percent below the previous MY.
2015 corn production is forecast to be 7.3 MMT less than the 2014 harvest. MY 2015/16 corn exports are forecast at 12.5 MMT; down from 19.4 MMT in MY 2014/15.
The summer grain harvest is progressing in Ukraine despite of some delay caused by weather conditions.
Production of wheat, barley corn and rye in Ukraine in MY 2015/16 are forecast to decrease mainly due to lower projected yields as well as decreased production areas for some of these crops.
Ukraine’s sale of grains continues as the risk of political interference, which had diminished perspectives for the next marketing year (MY) crop are finally quelled.
