Post forecasts MY2025/26 China's corn production at 298 MMT, up 3 MMT from MY2024/25, while imports are projected at 8 MMT, up 1 MMT year-over-year but still well below historical levels.

For the marketing year (MY) 2024/25, Post lowers rice harvested area and production to 11.4 million hectares and 36.6 million metric tons (MT), respectively, due to an estimated loss of around 300,000 hectares of aman season rice from two consecutive floods in August and October 2024.

On November 4, 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) announced the issuance of 58 seed production and operational licenses, including 13 genetically engineered (GE) corn seed production and operational licenses.

On October 28, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) published a revised “National Standard for Seed of Food Crops – Part 1: Cereals”, which will come into effect on October 1, 2025.
