On May 1, the Turkish government announced a zero-duty tariff rate quota for 1.0 million metric tons (MMT) of imported corn. The TRQ is effective from the announcement date through the end of July this year.

Post forecasts Ethiopia’s wheat production to reach 6.5 million metric tons (MT) in MY 2025/26, driven by improved yields and expanded irrigated farmland. In the same period, wheat imports are projected to decline by 24 percent to 1.3 million MT.

Zambia produced its largest corn crop on record in the 2021/22 MY. This bumper corn crop of 3.6 million tons follows on Zambia’s third largest corn crop of 3.4 million tons produced in the 2020/21 MY.
