India’s domestic apple and pear production in market year (MY) (July-June) 2022/23 are estimated at 2.35 million metric tons (MMT) and 311,000 metric tons (MT), respectively. Favorable rainfall in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh has augmented yields and will lead to increased exports. Market year 2022/23 apple imports are estimated at 430,000 MT.

Mexico has 1.2 million hectares of certified organic land in use. Eighty-six percent of all organic products are collected and harvested from natural habitats. In 2021, there were 48,641 certified organic producers in Mexico. The honey and coffee sectors have the most certified organic producers, while the avocado and berry industries produce the most in terms of value. On October 18, 2022, India's Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEF&CC)/Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC) recommended the environmental release of the locally developed genetically engineered (GE) mustard parental lines bn 3.6 carrying barnase and bar genes, and modbs 2.99 containing barstar and bar genes for the events to be used for developing new parental lines and hybrids, and GE mustard hybrid DMH-11 with these events for seed production.

On October 21, 2022, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued Direction No. TIC-C-503(T)/1/2022-IMPORTS-FSSAI.
