Russia: Draft TBT Measure on Food Labeling Notified to WTO

On May 24, 2016, Russia notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of draft amendments No. 2 to the Technical Regulation of the Customs Union “On Food Products Labeling” (G/TBT/N/RUS/69). According to the notification, the amendments specify additional requirements for labeling of food products obtained with the use of genetically modified organisms. The public comment period for the draft will close on July 22, 2016. Interested U.S. parties are encouraged to share their comments and concerns with the National Institute of Standards and Technology at ncsci@nist.gov. For potential inclusion in the U.S. official position, please send your comments by July 8, 2016.
