India: India Publishes Post-Import Testing Requirements for Raw Hide - Skin - Furskins

On February 20, 2025, India’s Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, published a memorandum requiring post-import testing of raw hide / skin / furskins for specified diseases. These include anthrax, lumpy skin disease (LSD), African swine fever (ASF), classical swine fever (CSF), peste des petits ruminants (PPR), sheep & goat pox, and foot and mouth disease (FMD). The testing is mandatory if the country of export and origin is affected by the diseases. The DAHD lists the Indian laboratories that will conduct the required tests.
