India: Biofuels Annual

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)

On June 4, 2018, the government of India (GOI) released the National Policy on Biofuels-2018. A target of 20 percent blending of ethanol with gasoline and 5 percent biodiesel blend is proposed by 2030. In 2018, India is likely to achieve its 2nd highest ethanol fuel penetration at 3.2 percent and 0.12 percent for biodiesel. Continued reliance on commercially unproven, alternative feedstocks and advanced biofuels, mean imported feedstocks and utilizing conventional biofuels are critical to reaching GOI goals.
