China: Port of Dalian Announces Direct Container Service to U.S. West Coast

On April 12, 2017 the Liaoning Daily reported that as of April 10, Ocean Alliance, one of the world’s top three shipping conglomerates, opened two container lines between the Port of Dalian, Liaoning Province, to Long Beach, California and Seattle, Washington, respectively. This is the first time in several years that Northeastern China has been able to offer direct container service to the U.S. West Coast. The three provinces of Northeastern China, Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang, are home to 130 million people. Ocean Alliance has dedicated 6 vessels with a capacity in excess of 10,000 containers to support bilateral commerce.
