Broiler meat production is forecast to expand 2.5 percent in 2017, as chicken continues to be competitive and an attractive substitute to red meat. Canada’s chicken tariff rate quota (TRQ) is projected to reach 87,000 metric tons in 2017, from a level of 83,400 metric tons in 2016. For 2017, both Canadian exports and imports of broiler meat are estimated at 150,000 MT.
