Australia: Tree Nut - Almond Annual

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   AS2025-0015
Australia is the world’s second-largest producer and exporter of almonds, behind only the United States, and the industry continues to grow. Almond production for marketing year (MY) 2025/26 is forecast to reach a record 175,000 metric tons (MT), a 21 percent increase from the revised estimate for MY 2024/25. The previous year’s production was adversely impacted by excessive heat and reduced crop inputs, driven by weaker price expectations. With only modest growth in domestic consumption, largely due to population increases, the forecast record production is expected to drive almond exports to an all-time high of 143,000 MT in MY 2025/26.

India: Sugar Semi-annual

FAS New Delhi maintains India’s centrifugal sugar production for marketing year (MY) 2025/26 at 35 million metric tons (MMT) (raw value basis), equivalent to 33 MMT of crystal sugar. This is supported by favorable rainfall during the 2024 southwest monsoon, which facilitated planting, and the 2025 monsoon which facilitated enhanced yields.
